Changing your address before hand will alleviate a lot of unnecessary stress after you have settled into your new home. While the Postal Service’s change-of-address process generally works, improvements are still being made-especially with hard copy requests being authorized.
Postal Service employees are instructed to reject and return orders with no signature. In some cases they will even reject change of address orders without a matching signature that are submitted. You’ll also need to notify the service providers, creditors, and government agencies that rely on the most up-to-date information to able to serve you best. Before your move, keep an eye on the mail you are currently receiving to notify those companies later.
